Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has covered conflict zones over the last forty-five years. Her research focuses on the human suffering of disasters and human tragedy. Curry reported on conflicts within Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist and TV anchor and news reporter. She was most well-known for her work as a correspondent for the Today program, which was a morning news show that was telecast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was known for her reporting on the humanitarian crisis in war-ravaged nations and natural disasters. Curry's mother was Japanese American and her U.S. Navy-sailor father both played a prominent role in her life. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents began to meet during her father's service in Japan. Because of her father's work as a military officer that they had to move around a lot. Curry finished highschool in Ashland Oregon. When she graduated from University of Oregon, Curry obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism degree in 1978. It is possible that she created an empathic way of communicating because of her experiences with other cultures during her childhood. Ashland was her last high school. Her journey to an enviable career after she began her broadcasting career as an intern in KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She later became the first news reporter female at the station, at age of 22. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting for KGW which is an affiliate of NBC in Portland. After four years of service, she was appointed reporter for KCBS TV in Los Angeles. Through her tenure of six years with the station she received 2 Emmy Awards.
